The History of Aloeric
Some of the first questions we are asked when hearing our school name is "How do you spell that?" and "Who was Aloeric?" Well, in history, the first Aloeric was a Norman Knight who was granted the villages of Melksham and Poulshot by William the Conqueror. Our school, when built in 1972, was named after him. Since then, the school has grown in popularity to become one of the largest in Wiltshire with over 400 children – this has led to the addition of two teaching blocks for our junior-aged pupils.
Our school is on a large site in the heart of Melksham. Well established in the town , it has strong community links. In 2017 it converted to academy status, being a founding member of Pickwick Academy Trust. We enjoy strong links with other schools in the Trust which are found in Corsham and Chippenham, as well working with other Melksham schools.
Currently we have just under 400 children at our school and we continue to grow. Over the coming years, as we work alongside the other schools within the Trust, we hope to continue to develop our facilities and our staff to ensure that your children get the best education possible.
